I decided to setup this page to help users to run Score Date on any environment.

1. How do I open a JAR file ?

Score Date requires at least the Java Runtime Environment 6 (Java SE 6). You can download it for free on the official Oracle site (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html)
If you already have JRE installed and you still experience issues, see below.
--> Windows
You might have other programs associated to .jar extension (like Nokia OVI suite, Azureus, ...). On Windows XP you can fix this by selecting a new association with the "Open with..." menu entry.
Windows Vista might have further issues, that Oracle declared not to fix anytime. Please see this post to resolve the issue: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/354664/executing-a-jar-on-vista-with-a-double-click

Open a command shell (like konsole or gnome-terminal) and simply type:
# java -jar ScoreDate.jar

2. I can't hear any sound when playing a note

There are mainly two reasons if you can't hear the audio:

• Your system is missing the MIDI soundbank to reproduce the instruments. Please download it from the Sun website: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/sound/soundbanks.html
  Note: starting from version 2.1, Score Date downloads the soundbank for you ! In case, update to the latest version.
• There is no MIDI device selected in the MIDI configuration panel. Please check if your audio device is recognized and selected.
